You’re in for a (pleasant) shock with this one.

Battery Shop Sussex are what keeps Sussex powered. Offering a range of high-quality, industry-leading batteries for a huge range of customers, Chris and his family business are proud to serve their customers.

And so are we. When Chris approached us to produce a fitting digital store front to house his brand and products, we couldn’t wait to get started.

From a design brief to a beautiful finished product, we’re proud of this electrifying website. See what all the fuss is about below.


Perhaps the most obvious design feature we have running right the way through this website is the dark grey background that is shot through by pulses of electric green. If any design is to reflect branding, then this surely is it. The effect of this design is to produce a stunningly modern and relevant digital space that inspires creativity and a zest for the latest, cutting-edge technology.

By utilising a dark background, we’re able to highlight bits that matter with the greens: the logo, CTAs, and drop-down menus. This is great for capturing the attention of viewers, showing how great design can make the journey that little less ambiguous, and more natural.

Logos live in a visual dimension, communicating ideas, philosophies, and values in a single snapshot. They have the power to transform how your brand is perceived and refracted amongst consumers.

Producing a memorable, appealing, and functional logo is the key to driving your brand’s online presence. Above all, though, they are one of the first opportunities you have with new customers to establish a good impression.

For our client, we produced a logo that ticks all the right boxes: it’s functional, appealing, minimal, and on-brand. Highlighting and foregrounding our client’s actual products, we’ve got a large green battery with a lightning fork striking through horizontally, breaking the battery in half.

This serves us well in influencing a contemporary and sleek design – and the white space in the lightning strike works perfectly well with the accompanying white text, too. And because of the dark background, all these features are easily visible and digestible for consumers.

The reason we love this logo so well, however, is because it partners up beautifully with the opening slider that sets the tone for what’s to come. This is design in all its glory – and we’ve got a large green battery buzzing with electricity to prove it. Following closely behind, a range of soft green polygons harness the true power of geometry in boosting brand identity.

Away from the homepage, we’ve incorporated a snippet of this slider and placed it at the top of each navigation page, making the visitor experience one that is consistent and predictably beautiful.

And dotted endlessly throughout, small icons do the talking by simplifying the message and making information naturally accessible.

Having design that inspires is great, but put it on a website that fails to do what websites need to do is a waste of time. This website is responsive, engaging, and built for a fantastic customer journey.

Navigation pages are centred and jargon-free, and, thanks to a handy sticky header, visitors are never more than a slide of the mouse away from their next page.

All in all, the usability of a website is what makes people like them. Battery Shop Sussex is a website that is wonderfully easy to use, and is unobtrusive to the customer journey.

Personifying your Presence

Websites give you and your business a real opportunity to get to know your clients. For Chris, he’s able to introduce himself and his business by featuring an ’About Us’ page, where people can learn more about his products and services, and feel more connected to his mission.

And if they want to get in touch, contact details are visible all over the website, making this website one that isn’t afraid to say hello.
Not only is this great for visitors, but it adds a whole new level of credibility and authenticity to our client’s branding.

eCommerce that works

Being an eCommerce website, we knew we had to make Battery Shop Sussex a digital store that worked. We’re able to do this by adding clean product page listings, with relevant information always retrievable at the click of a button.

By giving customers the option to shop by brand, we’re also putting purchasing control right into their hands, facilitating a journey that is most relevant to them.
