When Emma & Garry got in touch to create their business website, we couldn’t wait to get started. Read on to discover how we helped them deliver even more impact online.
Humans like to form snap decisions about each other. We’re pretty much set on a judgement about someone we meet within 1/10th of a second. It’s why interviews and other formal meetings are so important.
In the world of web design, not much changes. First impressions matter. A lot. And it could be the difference between your sale and your competitor’s.
They matter because you only have a short window in which to impress visitors and capture their attention. In fact, it only takes users around 50 milliseconds to form an opinion about your website. That’s about 0.05 seconds.
And with thousands of websites like your business’, you need to make that first encounter a positive one.
With all this in mind, the design team here at Red Website Design knew we needed to make an impact using great design. Because without helping our client make a great impact, they wouldn’t be able to maximise their presence and increase sales.
To do this, we revitalised the whole website with a vibrant green that’s directed by the business logo.
And, not only that, we were able to offset this green with a clean, white background and grey images.
Sliders are great for injecting a contemporary, sleek design into websites. With our client, ours are business-related (heating pipes, dials, and engineering systems etc). On top of the moving slider, we have green services CTAs that allow customers to take more action and be in more control of their experience.
Beautiful design can be found across the whole website, from alternate green/grey images on the home page, to a clean and clear website footer on every page.
Wherever you are on DKL Mechanical’s website, you’ll find their business shining across a website that’s modern, fresh, and competitive.
UI – User Interface
To make design go further, it needed an interface that placed the user at its heart.
And as first impressions matter, so we made the landing page work for the user. This meant making services as accessible as possible – and this meant placing a call to action on that amazing slider I was talking about.
The landing page, other than displaying our client’s services, was really a chance for users to get to know them more. In a brand-saturated world, this is more important than ever. And, as there will be countless other mechanical engineering business websites out there – making those first impressions were essential.
Creating a user interface that performs for users, for us, meant displaying services in a creative yet accessible way. We did this by having a square layout with services in each corner.
Away from the homepage, the ingredients for UI success can also be appreciated. When we hover over the ‘Our services’ navigation header, we can easily choose one of four services available. Let’s take ‘design’, for example.
We’re led to a simple, informative, and clean space where all this information can be easily consumed by consumers. It also contains the relevant information that our client’s target audience would find useful – such as design codes and documentations.
And, like the rest of the services pages, at the bottom we have a testimonials section that is perfectly positioned underneath what customers can expect from our client. Not only does this provide for an informed and reassured purchasing journey – it’s great for social proof, as customers on the fence are given one extra reason to choose DKL Mechanical.
Uploading a steady stream of content is essential if you are going to be of value to your customers. A great way to do this is by running blogs.
By creating blog posts, you can create content that matters to your audience. And if that content matters to them, they’ll come back for more. And they might just share it, too.
Building your authoritative status means you’ll improve your SEO massively. Search engines looking to rank websites most relevant to customers will be encouraged to rank you higher than ever.
On our client’s website we have an amazing ‘News’ page. Here, blog posts relevant to their industry can be uploaded regularly, and customers can be kept updated on the news that matters to them.
