City Compressors Conference is a 3-day conference organised by the Centre for Compressors Technology at City, University of London.

At each conference, developments in air, gas and refrigeration compressors, vacuum pumps, expanders, related systems, and components are discussed in various forms including keynote addresses, research and technical papers and podium presentations. To help spread the word about the 12th international conference, we designed a website that would communicate with those attending or interested in the event.

Events web design UK

It’s a crowded world out there. With millions of websites fighting for your attention, it can be hard for business to cut through the noise online to reach their key target audiences.

With a modern, user-friendly website that is both eye-catching and highly functional in terms of navigation and response times – you can stand out in front of your customers better and quicker.

For City Compressors Conference, they needed a simple brochure style website that told people about the conference and how it helps progress learning and understanding in the field of mechanical engineering. This was our chance to help them.

Website interface

The City Compressors Conference website interface includes a whole range of intelligent web design features and elements that all work seamlessly as one to offer an informed and enjoyable web experience for their online clients who are interested in either attending or finding out more about the 12th conference.

At its heart, this web design itself is effortlessly clean, utilising white space when necessary. We’re big fans of using white space in the right places and at the right time – not only does it open up the website to create for a much more modern experience, it helps highlight content such as images and call to actions.

Returning to the web design, we went with a colour scheme that leads on from the client’s logo – red, white and black.

With a colour scheme and design blueprint that runs throughout the whole website, it’s an interface that remains very much on-brand, making it easier for our client to display information to users.

And it also helps create a much more consistent experience for ever user, too. Everyone’s a winner.

User experience & navigation architecture

For our team of UK web designers, a good user experience is up there with beer and pizza.

Let’s face it, the vast majority of positive user experiences online today are pretty much decided as soon as visitors land on the homepage.

With only around 7 or 8 seconds in which to impress users, we need to hook them in and keep them there.

When we land on this homepage, the top section of the homepage immediately inspires and informs, with a large image of London foregrounded by information about the conference, supported by sleek design and a call to action taking users to the log-in portal.

From here, users can take advantage of a clean navigation banner which is nicely spaced out and compliments our client’s logo, sitting at the top-left of the homepage.

And this really sets the tone for much of what’s to come. By pairing good web design with easy navigation, this interface is fit for the 21st century and helps put this conference on the digital map.
