Daniel Thomas is a wedding photographer based near Andover
Specialising in barn and woodland photography, his contemporary style brings together the best of traditional wedding scenes with modern angles and twists to craft beautiful stories. Daniel needed a new website to showcase his work, attract more clients and centralise his marketing strategy.
So, after getting in touch with our design team, we got to work. Images speak a thousand words – we had to make sure this website did the same.
Web design interface
Web design can delight or ruin a client’s relationship with a business in a heartbeat. Websites—being the primary middle-men between brands and customers—have a duty to serve customers from the minute they arrive.
Not only does web design communicate what you do, it communicates how you do it.
And that’s all about creating positive user experiences and interfaces that work to help users complete their tasks.
In the photography world, it’s crucial to make a statement; to tell stories and to inspire. For this reason alone, our UK web design team knew they had to get it right. It would all be about forming a relationship with our client and theirs.
The homepage is where the vast majority of first-time interactions take place.
Homepages need to immediately captivate the attention of users and encourage further on-site action.
Our client Daniel is a huge fan of nature, the rustic, and calm colours that relax the user journey. Starting with the colour palette, what better way to hit these values than with a dark sage colour?
As far as photography websites go, dark sage is an unconventional choice, but in collaboration with other design elements, the overall mood of this website is lifted ten-fold.
Conveying the right energy needs to be done with more than just the colour palette, however. Up next was typography. And we love nothing more than experimenting with different styles and tones to evoke different moods for audiences.
In our designers’ objective to create a traditional, unique and professional atmosphere, choosing the right type face would be crucial.
Coupled with the sage colour palette, a formal, white Garamond typeface marries professionalism and familiarity perfectly on our client’s interface.
Utilising the best of web design to craft an attractive presence is our thing. It’s why, when users land on the homepage, they can immediately get to know Daniel straight away.
Underneath the above-the-fold image slider, users are greeted with an introductory passage accompanied by some of Daniel’s images.
Further down, users can access Daniel’s amazing services thanks to three call to action buttons that are accompanied with his images.
Connecting with customers – website blog
Blogs used to be places where people spouted nonsense to almost anybody willing to listen. Now they’re used by everybody looking to form more meaningful relationships with their visitors.
And businesses are no different.
With over 600 million blogs in the blogosphere, it can sometimes feel like cutting through the noise is difficult. But with the right blog design, you can do more than you think.
For Daniel’s photography business, we ensured design reflected both his values and helped his potential clients learn more about him, his craft, and how he can help them.
