Around 1.5 million adults in the UK are said to suffer from Attention-Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, yet only 120,000 have been formally diagnosed with the condition.
Dr Helen Read, former NHS Psychiatrist Consultant and now a leading Consultant in an ADHD clinic, established ADHD Consultancy in 2017 to encourage those who silently battle with the condition to come forward and receive treatment.
When Dr Read submitted her design brief to create an open, inviting website for her consultancy, we were more than happy to get on-board and support her mission.
We think it’s a great website that does all the right things for our client. If you’ve got a spare 5, have a nosy to see how we transformed a design brief into something inspiring.
If anything was to help us meet our objectives, it was always going to be refreshing and engaging design that speaks for our client and her values.
Landing on the homepage we’re embraced with a gorgeous, sunrise colour palette, and this is visible right across the website. Oranges really are wonderful – and the colour isn’t bad either. Orange means joy, life, courage, and renewal – exactly the kind of values our client represents.
It’s the opening slider that does it for us, setting the tone perfectly for what’s to come. And what’s to come is an open, spacious design that says pop in for a chat – we’ve got time.
Good design empowers people. Our opening breath-of-fresh-air homepage, including the content that reads ‘take control of your life’, is fantastic for showing us what our client is all about. We knew we had to do something special with the logo, though.
Logos are what you associate with a brand, so it was incredibly important that we made this work. It’s clean and simple, and does everything you’d want it to. By orchestrating the colour scheme of the design, our logo really stands out to visitors.
Appearing top-left of crisp lettering is a brain made up of small individual cubes. To us, it works well as a speech bubble, too, and the individual building blocks communicate a ‘taking the first step’ ethos that’s right at the heart of this consultancy.
Navigation & UI
It’s all well and good having great design. But enabling people to take control of their experience on a website is just as crucial. We’ve done our very best to ensure this website is free-flowing, free of clutter, and free from distractions.
The navigation header includes all the relevant pages a customer may wish to use – there are even resource links and a handy blog section where customers can stay updated not only with what’s going on in and around the clinic, but also further information about ADHD.
This transforms our client’s digital presence to a community resource, enabling the public to access Dr Read’s website as so much more than a digital base for a clinic.
It’s Nice to Know You
Your ‘About Us’/’Who we Are’/’Our Mission’ is your hello, your come-on-in, your welcome aboard. It’s really your chance to say ‘this is who we are’ and this is why you need to know. Here, Dr Read’s visitors can learn all about her personal experience with ADHD and what her mission with her consultancy is. It’s enormously informative and defines the mission clearly – an accessible and affordable clinic. The content throughout the whole website reflects this central driving tenet of the brand, supporting it from beginning to end.
Staying connected, moreover, means that you can engage with your customers. You’ll notice a social media feed present on the homepage, allowing visitors to stay informed of the latest social media activity.
Here, it’s also worth acknowledging how personified this website is, utilising all the features above. The additional images of Dr Read herself is also great for breaking the ice and making her much more engaged and accessible.
All in all, we think we’ve produced a website that truly speaks for our client and her mission.
