Welcoming a positive, engaging, and relaxed digital space.
When it comes to providing excellent service to clients, Dr Angela Mooney knows a thing or two about getting it done. As a chartered psychologist and lecturer with over 15 years’ experience working in mental health services, Dr Mooney values her time spent helping others.
Now it was time to help her establish a brochure style website that displays her clinical services to those who need it most. The end product? A website that brings Dr Mooney, her services, and her mission, closer to her clients.
We loved getting stuck in with this one. Have a read below to see how our design team approached and built something worth shouting about.
When we design low-cost websites for our clients, we’re only ever able to deliver a service if we understand their mission, any USPs, and what they want to achieve with their website. To make design work for you, it’s important to bear in mind what you want to achieve with it in the first place.
For our client, we knew we wanted to create a minimalist, calm, relaxed, and yet professional website that easily connected Dr Mooney with clients seeking her help. Whether it’s a page dedicated to her academic duties, or simply talking about herself – our designers built a digital presence that promotes positive experiences right across the whole website.
One area from which we could extract the most value was undoubtedly the visual sphere. Visual elements like colour palettes, fonts, images, call-to-actions, and banners are always a great place to start alongside content. They are important customer-facing components of your website, and help encapsulate your branding from the first point of contact with your online visitors.
Visiting this website, you’ll know exactly what we mean. When you first land on the homepage, the high-quality, above-the-fold image of Dr Mooney situated immediately underneath the navigation bar straight-away gives off a personal and professional mood.
Meanwhile, soft tones of beige, white, grey, and black then take over – leaving the website far from the usual clinical approach you normally see.
Finally, laying out our client’s content is the reliable, sleek, and crisp Lato font that’s also capitalised and set to italics in appropriate sections of the website. Already, we were beginning to take this website forward with design elements that perfectly summed up what our client wanted to achieve: a website that not only looked good – but was able to effectively bring the message forward.
Interface & Navigation
Our team handcraft amazing, low-cost web design that says what you need to say. We can never achieve this, though, without integrating a seamless interface into the whole user experience – from start to finish. We believe websites should guide customers to where they need to go, every time.
For our client, this was no different. Having an efficient user interface was all about placing design elements in the right places, at the right time, and for the right reasons. It meant anticipating the customer journey and having empowering CTAs that make it easier for customers to get in touch or get involved.
Bounce rates are the rates in which visitors leave your website before clicking any links. Getting the homepage right was a must. That’s why we made it so customers can immediately see Dr Mooney, her latest posts, and read an informative welcome section.
We also made ample space for short content information. Whether it’s a checklist of services, or a Q&A, the homepage is the most informative and engaging it can be, setting users up to advance throughout the rest of the website.
Social Proof & Authenticity
Social proof is the process by which your service becomes validated, approved, and recommended. It’s every time you walk past a packed restaurant next to an empty one. It’s every time you click ‘buy’ after lastly consulting a few positive reviews. It’s the ‘follower’ counter on somebody’s social media profile asking you to download a free PDF. It’s every metric, image, or piece of text that says this service is great and here’s why.
When it came to building a website for a clinical psychologist, social proof was no different for our design team. We achieved this with three important things: testimonials from customers, a page dedicated to qualifications, and a reel displaying registered partners.
When these elements work together, customers know they are working with somebody they can trust.
