Bringing home interior to life

TCHL are a painting and decorating company based in Basingstoke. What gets them out of bed every morning is offering tailored, home interior design services to match their customers’ styles.

They’re a bit like us – but we do design a little bit differently. It’s all online, and it’s all about providing web design that gets businesses noticed from day one.

Our expert team of web designers received a brief from TCHL Interiors to build them a brochure-style. Why? Because they wanted to get noticed. And they wanted to get noticed beautifully.

So, we do what we do best. We got to work with the brief and came up with something special. Have a read below to discover how we went about doing it.

Design

“People ignore designs that ignore people” – Frank Chimero

If there’s one guiding ethos that makes great design great, it’s this one.

At its core, design is there to communicate with online visitors. It needs to resonate with them and inspire them to go further. In our case, this means further web navigation and exploration.

Receiving a design brief for an interior design company really allowed us to get our creative juices flowing. It required us to think a lot about what our client wanted to achieve, and how we could put that design in place to get it done.

To start with, we needed a colour palette to set the mood and the right kind of atmosphere. To be able to foreground other design elements, we structured the design using neutrals – white and grey. This would afford us opportunities to implement creative design in areas that wouldn’t normally work with a different colour palette.

We also knew we wanted to immediately imbue a relaxed, creative, and approachable style. Coupled with the colour palette, the Handlee header font works really well. And for the main body of text, the well-known Helvetica over a crisp white background means content can be delivered clearly and effectively. Every time.

Elsewhere, design is kept minimal, clean, and spacious. The homepage, for example, with its three-box service section and grey CTAs works wonders for laying out a professional, digitally savvy presence.

Interface

This quote by famous designer Charles Eames sums up our ethos quite brilliantly. Great design needs to agree with visitors not only aesthetically, but functionally, too. Great design means anticipating what customers are going to do, and having the necessary elements in place to make that happen. At the very least, we need great design that works and allows users to complete their tasks with ease.

For clients looking for a respectable interior design company, we’ve ensured the whole user interface is built around them, on an interface that’s consistently on-brand, contemporary, and functional. Every page has valuable and relevant CTAs, for example, to help steer users in the right direction.

Keeping the whole ship structurally sound, we have clean content boxes that are even and aligned with text. And elsewhere across the website, you’ll see easy-to-use navigation bars, consistent headline banners, and high-quality images. Working together, the building blocks of our client’s interface produce a digital presence that customers can rely on.

Social proof

Social proof is all about strengthening your hand when it comes to reputation, validity, and authenticity. In an increasingly competitive digital age, it matters more than ever to leverage any accreditations, testimonials, and social media status.

For our client, social proof can be found in the testimonials section, where customers can see for themselves how happy other customers were with TCHL’s service.
